WHY THE ADMISSION CHARGE?

FESTIVAL MANAGEMENT -We have grown to the point that it is a year-round task to plan and manage. For the festival to remain the fun, family-oriented event it is now, we must make plans to have a paid director and associated expenses.

FESTIVAL FUNDING - We are a private, nonprofit organization, not a government agency. For 33 years, we have raised our own funds. We will continue seeking sponsors, but our board had to face the hard economic reality of the decreasing amount of financial resources available from corporate and private donations.

FESTIVAL FINANCES - Uncle Dave Macon Days is in solid financial shape. We have NEVER run a festival with a deficit budget. The hard work of our dedicated volunteers, some with more than 30 years of service, has made that possible. Years of sound money management have enabled us to keep the admission charge affordable.

THE POSITIVE IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

CANNONSBURGH - People tell us they love having the festival at Cannonsburgh. The village is in need of restoration. We plan to be able to help with this project with some of the proceeds from the festival.

CIVIC GROUPS - Many local civic groups, look to Uncle Dave Macon Days as one of their main means to raise money to serve our community with everything from free eye glasses to providing dictionaries to our schools.

COMMUNITY – Our event generates nearly TWO MILLION dollars of revenue to our community according the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. We continue to draw regional and national recognition to Murfreesboro.

CONTINUATION – The festival makes sure our rich folk heritage continues to be presented and preserved to new neighbors and future generations through fun, scholarships and education
